really not sure about this shot.. cant figure out if its good or bad.. i like the texture of the net and the fish. but somehow.. it just doesnt seem too nice. haha.. so all comments are very welcome=)
btw.. i just found out tt eh vivitar series one 105mm f/2.5 i used for the macro shots is supposed to be one of the best 105mm macro lenses ever built. is this true? if anyone has heard about it please let me know. thanx so much=) if it is, would really love to get my hands on one... cos trying to decide on a macro lens.. either the nikkor 105s or this one.
it was also quoted as "made of metal thus heavy, bulky and practically indestructible" i find that really amusing... but it does feel amazing. just wonderful...
Hhm... this shot is not a really beautiful one. A dead fish is not quite photogenic. But that's how life is... full of so little details we often don't see. The focus and the DOF is good, it's just the composition I don't really like. The fish is in the centre of the shot which is not the best way of composing a photo.

@Kerstin: yea i agree with you.. perhaps thats y it doesnt look appealing.. welll.. perhaps i ll make another crop. or put the ooriginal.. but put it in the center in this crop to try and bring out the details. perhaps not a good choice. thnx so much=)

Well,I like the fish in the centre of the shot dangling in fishnet because I think that is your main subject in that photo and more importantly the message you are trying to convey to us ! Good job dude ;)

@Kheoh Yee Wei: thnx yee wei. but it does look kinda funny with it in the middle. i did screw up on the focus foor this. focused on anothe point oof the fish net... think it was intentional. but bad choice i guess.. so the fish isnt very sharp.
I think this could have been a very powerful shot had the composition been a bit better. I would reccomend cropping off the lighter portion of the image to the left of the fish. I think that would help a lot. And no, it is not a pretty subject, but things don't have to be pretty to be beautiful.

@Paul Ricciardi: thnx for the suggestion. will try it once things settle down in school. n really like yr last phrase... its quite true actually. thnx again
I like it the way it is - you could play with cropping and everything, but I would not like to see it cropped too much - even to make it 'fit' the rule of thirds. I think that rule may well be over-used anyway, and in this image, I don't think it would make for any more compelling a shot anyway. FWIW

@Adiemus: thats true, tts y this ones in the center. this is cropped already. din find the 2/3 good. perhaps i ll put the full picture up oneday too... thnx
i don't really know much about how a photo should look like but i don't like the idea of the fish dangling in a net. For some reason, it remains me of overfishing or something sad. But at the same time, it's very compelling

@duying: hey duying=) tts kinda the effect i was trying to achieve=)
I think you composed well, with the light-dark-light sections in the background and the fish in front of the shadow to make it stand out. I don't think it's the cropping or the composition that makes the fish not stand out as much as you would like it but just because the scales are a bit burnt because of the refection which makes not enough of the fish clear. Happens to me also but don't think there is much we can do about it in post processing. But anyways stopped on the one to say this because I think it is really special.
