this is a close up of the bottoom one from yesterdays pic... at 1/1000 i still cant freeze the motion of the wings... imagine how fast they re beating at... amazing...

I had the same exact problem of stopping the wings on a bee shot that I did a while back. 1/1000 just wasn't quite enough. But, I decided I liked the wings a bit blurred because it showed motion. I like your shot too for the same reason.

hey this sounds like regurgitation but yup blurred wings against a still background can really serve as a good portrayal to how swiftly the damselfly moves. clever of you!
