You caught an awsome photo of these birds having a snack Benjamin! Which program are you editing with? The background is too bright - playing with the basic brightness and contrast doesn't help much with that kind of a sky. You need something with a histogram so you can move the different areas of light and dark up and down. Right now I am doing it the easy way - "Adobe Lightroom Beta 4". It's a shame but its due to expire on February 28th when it goes on sale. But I've had all the Beta's to try it for a good long time now. It will seem much slower when I go back to editing with Photoshop. You could try it for a little while - very easy interface. After importing photos - click on Develop. A panel will come up on the right with all the controls with "sliders" under the histogram and for all the other color adjustments, etc. Then when you think it looks right, go to the file menu and Export back to a folder you choose.

@Anne: thnx anne=) ermz.. i didnt edit this particular photo cos din really noe what i shld do with it.. adjusting the saturation and contrast only made the bird on the right look terrible.. all thnx to iso 200 on a panasonic cam. haha. so decided to leave it as it is. but if not im using nikon free ware for most of my pics. think its called.. nikon editor. cos no $ to get ps or anything like tt. ok. ill dl that and try it out. hope they have a mac version. thanx lots for the help!
great capture - you could probably add a little contrast to bring out the black colors a bit more

@Jason Kravitz: hmmz. i tried that. but the grain on the face of the one on the right cam out so much. was just terrible. hate the nr on this cam (was using an FZ5). but at least it had the zoom to get in this close. thnx for the suggestion=P
That's were my lizard went. :)

A perfect nature shot is a very difficult matter. This one is excellent. You have catched the moment with very precision. Great work.

I'd shoot colour and put a channels adjustment layer if in photoshop. Seems to give the most control, but can be tricky to get it good. Shooting black and white doesn't give you anything more than shooting colour and converting.
